About Me ..... and Cleaner Indoor Air

Hello, my friends....Thank you, for stopping by.

As you may well know, all of us face a myriad of risks to our health as we go about our-day-to-day lives.  Driving in cars, flying in planes, doing recreational activities and being exposed to environmental pollutants all pose varying degrees of risk to us.  Some risks we can't avoid, others we choose to accept, for doing otherwise, would "cramp" our lifestyle...the way we want to live our lives. And ultimately, there are risks that you can do something about.

Data released in the Air Advice State of Our Indoor Air Report 2007,  shows that people in 9 out of 10 homes are breathing unhealthy indoor air.    Overall, 96.7% of all homes tested, had at least one of the six indoor air quality problems analyzed in the study.  These pollutants were particle allergens, carbon monoxide, temperature and humidity, carbon dioxide and chemical pollutants.  Most homes had more than one indoor air "pollution" problem, 83% had 2 or more and nearly half, had 3 or more.

If the walls of your house could talk, you would hear sounds of..."you have gas!...you have mold!...you are a dead man walking!"  Radioactive radon could be leaching out of your granite kitchen counter tops, cancer-causing formaldehyde or benzene seeping from particle board and laminate furniture. Gases are emitted into the air, creating indoor air pollution that can be more damaging than the air we breathe outside.  Even the hard-wearing acrylic paints on the wall "off-gas" volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can irritate people inflicted with asthma.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) informs us that homes built in the last 4 decades have been built with minimal ventilation to keep out the "polluted" outdoor air, which is wrongly perceived as "bad". Stale indoor air combined with off-gassing materials can create health risks. I've even heard one of my neighbors say that in today's well-"sealed" homes if someone farted, everyone in the house would suffer...for days!

These indoor air pollutants put stress on your immune system, which can lead to additional health problems.  In general, poor indoor air quality leads to allergy symptoms, respiratory problems and a weakened immune system. Most susceptible are infants and little children, since their lungs are smaller and they inhale more often than adults throughout the day.  Add to that the time spend indoors by kids is even greater than the time spent by adults.

Other sources of indoor air pollution may include poor ventilation, lingering smells, new furniture, carpeting, water damage, remodeling your home, ...even a new furry pet.

According to the EPA, the 3 most basic methods of cleaning and freshening your indoor air is by controlling the source of indoor air pollution, improving air ventilation and by cleaning the indoor air through "mechanical" ventilation...using air cleaners or ....air "purifiers".

ABOUT  ME...MY MISSION

Now, that I have presented the problems...what are the solutions? you may ask.  This is where I come in.  This is my niche...my mission...my goal.   I will inform you with the latest, most-up-to-date information, tips, techniques, products and news in order for you to control and maintain clean and healthy indoor air for your "Home..Sweet Home"...

Hi…My name is Mel

I’ve always aspired in being an entrepreneur, and as such, excited in sharing my business acumen, as well as personal knowledge with others. Thus, I created this website, in order to share with you, my friends, the knowledge I’ve gained over the years and which I’ve also implemented for the betterment of myself and my family's  health and look forward in helping you do the same.

I’m not an expert on any of the subjects, but have learned volumes of detailed knowledge over the past 5 years on the subject of indoor air quality and its health effects and now am ready and willing to share the proven facts and verifiable information.  I’ve always desired to share my discoveries and knowledge with others as my way of contributing to the betterment of society.  I hope you will be curious enough and inspired to the point of looking into my findings and recommendations.

Having a healthy, positive attitude, I'm always looking to help others, as well as continually bettering  myself, in standard of living as well as in health.  The latter area is my passion…my niche…the precise area of public concern that folks need to be informed and warned about.

I’ve been involved with numerous varied business ventures over the past 20 years, from MLM to affiliate marketing, the latest related to opportunities with indoor air quality and its effect on the human body.   I feel very strongly about causes and effects of indoor “pollution” and feel that there is a great need to spread the news on the potentially hazards of indoor air pollution, especially when it affects little children and infants, the elderly, and the sickly.

How will I share this knowledge?

Just experiencing life and through curiosity, I’ve learned that indoor air quality  can be 5-10 times as harmful as the pollution you face when you step outside your door.  Through online research and being involved in retail sales for an air purification company, I’ve learned much about the dangers of indoor air quality. I look forward in sharing newsworthy articles,  product suggestions and reviews with you, as they become available.   As I’m just starting off, I have a lot of work ahead of me…but it is a “labor of love”.  I enjoy helping others, hoping to create a “win/win” situation…informing you with “healthy” news, while trying to make a second income in the process.

To you.... and clean indoor air!
